Since its launch a few months ago Google Earth VR has exponentially grown to include a wide range of new functionalities. For those of you who are not familiar with Google Earth VR, this is a service provided by Google Earth which allows users to explore the world from different perspectives. You can fly over a city, visit world monuments or even soar into  space. You can virtually go anywhere you want in the world without having to leave the comforts of your couch. This is an excellent service to use with students for virtual field trips. Students can use it to create immersive learning virtual experiences, visit different parts of the world, and get to discover other cultures.

Today Google Earth announced some new interesting features. Users are now able to search for and visit places they like. You can simply type in the location name or address and start virtually exploring it. Additionally, 27 new hand-picked locations have been added  to help you visit some beautiful places around the world. ‘You can check out Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany (the inspiration for Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle!), stand on the top of Table Mountain in South Africa, fly over Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina, and much more.’ Google Earth VR has become available for free on Oculus Store and Steam.
